Upon her arrival to Auschwitz in 1943, Jewish ballerina Franceska Mann was told to strip her clothes and change into prisoner's outfit. She stripped "in a distracting way", stole an SS guard's pistol, and shot him dead.

She was also able to wound another guard in the stomach, before she was killed. Then another woman who was present there, took her attack as an opportunity, and convinced a few other women to rebel. Before they were all murdered, they managed to scalp one Nazi, and tear the nose off another.
